The Supreme Court has issued a stern directive to yoga guru Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurved Managing Director Acharya Balkrishna, urging them to tender a public apology within one week. This directive comes in the wake of a case against the company for disseminating allegedly misleading advertisements, claiming to cure certain diseases while disparaging the allopathy branch of medicine.

Expressing its stance unequivocally, the bench emphasized that while the defendants may be engaged in commendable work, they cannot denigrate allopathy. Last Tuesday, the court had rejected their initial apology, prompting Ramdev and Balkrishna to express their readiness to issue a public apology.

In response to the contempt of court notices issued by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), the duo had previously tendered an “unconditional and unqualified” apology, which the court declined to accept.
