Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal, announced on March 27 that he would disclose details of the alleged liquor scam in court today.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is set to appear before the Rouse Avenue Court as his Enforcement Directorate custodial remand concludes on Thursday, March 28. Sunita Kejriwal stated that her husband, also the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, plans to unveil the truth regarding the “so-called Delhi liquor scam” during his court appearance on March 28. Additionally, the Delhi High Court is scheduled to hear a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking Arvind Kejriwal’s removal as Delhi Chief Minister on Thursday.

In a digital briefing on Wednesday, Sunita Kejriwal asserted that her husband would reveal the specifics of the alleged liquor scam in court and provide evidence. She mentioned that during her meeting with him in ED custody, he informed her that despite over 250 raids conducted by the central agency in the past two years, no illicit funds have been discovered related to the purported liquor scam. She questioned whether the meager amount found during the raids at their residence was linked to the alleged scam.

The Enforcement Directorate arrested Arvind Kejriwal on March 21 in connection with an alleged excise policy-linked money laundering case. The Delhi High Court issued notice to the Enforcement Directorate regarding a petition filed by Arvind Kejriwal challenging his arrest and the ED remand granted by the trial court.

Responding to the developments, Delhi Education Minister Atishi highlighted the High Court’s observations, emphasizing the need to scrutinize the arrest for possible political motives. She noted that the opposition and the INDIA bloc have repeatedly raised concerns over the legality and motivation behind Kejriwal’s arrest.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Smriti Irani criticized Kejriwal over the alleged liquor scam, accusing him of evading investigation. At the Times Now Summit, she cited the Supreme Court’s acknowledgment of a money trail in the scandal and alleged that AAP utilized funds from the liquor scam in electoral campaigns. Union Minister Anurag Thakur and Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva also condemned Kejriwal, with Sachdeva calling for his resignation as Delhi Chief Minister.
