The Delhi BJP has taken legal action against Delhi minister Atishi for her assertion that the BJP approached her, urging her to join the party or face potential arrest. Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva stated that a legal notice was issued to Atishi after she failed to retract her statement. Sachdeva emphasized that Atishi must substantiate her claims and respond within 15 days.

Atishi had made a sensational allegation, asserting that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was targeting her, along with other AAP leaders, following Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest. She claimed to have been approached by a BJP representative who warned of impending arrest unless they joined the BJP. However, the BJP promptly denied these allegations, challenging Atishi to disclose the identity of the individual in question.
Following the issuance of the legal notice, the Delhi BJP warned of further legal action if Atishi failed to address the notice within the specified timeframe. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri rebuffed Atishi’s claims, highlighting that the BJP had no inclination to recruit individuals like her, especially amidst ongoing controversies such as the liquor scam.
At present, Atishi has refrained from commenting on the legal notice.
Meanwhile, as Arvind Kejriwal remains in Tihar Jail until April 15, the Aam Aadmi Party received a significant boost as AAP MP Sanjay Singh was granted bail in the same liquor policy case. However, the Supreme Court clarified that Singh’s bail could not serve as a precedent in similar cases.
