Home Minister Amit Shah and spouse Sonal Amitbhai Shah bet over Rs 1 crore each on multiple listed companies, according to their election affidavits. The disclosed data reveals that Amit Shah holds a stake in 180 listed entities, with his top five holdings including Hindustan Unilever, MRF, Colgate-Palmolive (India), Procter & Gamble Hygiene And Health Care, and ABB India. These top five holdings account for nearly a third of his total listed portfolio worth Rs 17.4 crore.

In addition to the listed securities, unlisted securities in Amit Shah’s portfolio are valued at Rs 3 lakh. His spouse Sonal Amitbhai Shah also holds significant investments across approximately 80 listed entities with a total value of Rs 20 crore. Key holdings for Sonal include Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Karur Vysya Bank, Bharti Airtel, Canara Bank, Gujarat Fluorochemicals, and Lakshmi Machine Works.

Amit Shah recently filed his nomination as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from the Gandhinagar seat in Gujarat for the upcoming 2024 elections. Five years ago in his previous affidavit filing during the elections, he had declared shares and investments worth Rs 21.96 crore.

Comparing key holdings over time shows limited changes in terms of shares held by Amit Shah. While there has been an increase from 5,000 shares to 6,176 shares of Hindustan Unilever valued at Rs 1.4 crore now; other top holdings remain unchanged since the last declaration.

It is interesting to note that Reliance Industries does not form part of Amit Shah’s direct portfolio for this filing; however, his spouse still holds some Reliance shares valued at Rs 3.4 lakh.

Amit Shah’s financial disclosures provide insight into his investment activities as he participates in another electoral campaign after winning the Gandhinagar seat in 2019.
