India has reaffirmed its unwavering stance on Arunachal Pradesh, asserting its integral status within the nation despite China’s persistent, unfounded claims. Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reiterated this position during a recent press briefing, emphasizing that Arunachal Pradesh has always been and will remain an inseparable part of India.
“Our stance on Arunachal Pradesh has been unequivocal and reiterated time and again. Regardless of China’s repeated baseless assertions, Arunachal Pradesh is, has been, and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India,” stated the MEA spokesperson firmly.
China’s objections were raised following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to inaugurate the Sela Tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh on March 9. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin expressed China’s opposition, stating that it does not recognize Arunachal Pradesh as part of India and firmly opposes its existence.
India promptly dismissed these objections as “absurd,” highlighting that such repetitive and unfounded claims hold no legitimacy.
In parallel, diplomatic discussions between high-level officials from India and China were held in Beijing on March 27. While both sides engaged in extensive discussions on achieving complete disengagement, no significant breakthrough was reported. The MEA announced that regular contact would be maintained through diplomatic and military channels, albeit without any immediate breakthrough.
