Speaking at a campaign rally in the town of Kithaur, Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister, projected the achievements of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government. He suggested how their successive tenures have elevated more people out of poverty in India than the total population of Pakistan – a country that gained independence simultaneously with India. His speech was in endorsement of the BJP’s Meerut Lok Sabha constituency’s candidate, Arun Govil, a known figure in the acting industry.
Adityanath further noted that despite Pakistan receiving a larger geographical area in 1947, with a smaller population compared to India, its citizens are now grappling with food scarcity. In contrast, he pointed out that under the Modi administration, nearly 80 crores people in India receive free rations. He also highlighted how around 22 crore individuals in Pakistan are food deprived.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister emphasized the successful implementation of various schemes by Prime Minister Modi, which benefited many Indians. Examples include providing free housing to approximately 4 crore impoverished people and extending free electricity to around 2.5 crore individuals.
In his speech, he lauded Arun Govil, who famously played Ram’s role in the well-known serial Ramayan. Adityanath revealed Govil’s candidacy coinciding with the year when the grand Shri Ram temple was inaugurated after a 500-year wait. He empowered the crowd with the slogan, “We will vote for those who constructed the Ram Temple in Ayodhya,” while questioning the capability of SP, BSP, and Congress leaders in completing such feats, mentioning the abolition of Article 370 in Kashmir and the nullification of the triple talaq for the empowerment of Muslim women.
Adityanath also commented on the execution of significant projects such as the rapid rail link between Delhi and Meerut and the Expressway, attributing them to Modi’s leadership. He underlined these achievements as enough reason to elect Modi for a third term and ensure the victory of the BJP candidate. The rally was attended by three-term MP Rajendra Agarwal, Adityanath principal associate, while there was an appreciable absence of the incumbent Ghaziabad MP, Gen (retd) VK Singh.
