Delhi’s Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, has submitted a petition to the Rouse Avenue Court, requesting access to insulin while in jail. The court hearing for this petition is set to take place at 2 pm as per the Aam Aadmi Party. Kejriwal, whose health has reportedly been compromised due to acute diabetes and unstable blood sugar levels, has also requested daily 15-minute video conferencing consultations with his physician. He additionally seeks that his wife be allowed to participate in these virtual meetings.
This request has been driven by significant fluctuations in Kejriwal’s blood sugar levels since his incarceration, putting his health in a precarious situation.

Meanwhile, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, VK Saxena, commissioned the Director General of Prisons on Thursday to review and report on the claims made by AAP that Kejriwal has been denied insulin in Tihar jail. The directive followed allegations put forth by Delhi Cabinet Minister Atishi that there was a conspiracy to assassinate the Chief Minister by withholding home-cooked meals and insulin while in jail. Both Tihar jail and prison authorities have refuted these claims.
In response to these allegations, Raj Niwas released a series of posts stating that Saxena had requested a factual report on the matter from the DG Prisons within 24 hours. While expressing that prison concerns fall entirely under the jurisdiction of the AAP government, Raj Niwas assured that no negligence concerning the Chief Minister’s health would be tolerated.

At a press conference, Atishi alleged that Kejriwal’s appeals for insulin have been consistently ignored by the Tihar jail administration. She also claimed that efforts to organize video consultations with his doctor were facing resistance from both the ED and prison officials. She expressed concerns about Kejriwal’s blood sugar levels persistently surpassing 300 mg/dL over several days, attributing it to an alleged plot to harm him.
