The agency disclosed that a liquor businessman from the southern region had a meeting with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at his office chamber on March 16, 2022. During this meeting, the businessman sought the Chief Minister’s support, which Kejriwal allegedly assured, stating that K Kavitha would be in touch. However, Kejriwal purportedly requested funds in exchange for the support offered.
Further probing revealed that Kavitha, a leader of the BRS party from Telangana, subsequently contacted the businessman and arranged a meeting in Hyderabad. She referenced the businessman’s interaction with the Delhi Chief Minister and mentioned Vijay Nair, another accused in the case, who was allegedly in contact with her.
The CBI asserted that during their meeting, Kavitha informed the businessman that they needed to arrange Rs 100 crore upfront and requested a contribution of Rs 50 crore from him.
