Following the release of two CCTV clips by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) depicting the suspect involved in the Bengaluru Rameshwaram Cafe blast, recent developments reveal the detention of an individual who allegedly interacted with the suspect in Ballari.

The suspect, last seen at the Ballari bus stand on March 1, nearly eight hours post the blast, was apprehended by the NIA. Records from the NIA, publicly accessible, indicate that on March 6, five days post the incident, four individuals linked to an “ISIS module” based in Ballari were taken into custody.

The person detained by the central probe agency has been identified as Syed Shabbir.

Through extensive investigations, law enforcement pieced together the suspect’s trail using CCTV footage, unraveling his escape route. The footage traces his journey via intra-state government buses, originating from Bengaluru and leading to Ballari, with further travels to an undisclosed location.

The captured CCTV footage shows the suspect initially boarding a Volvo bus (KA 47 F 4517) from a nearby bus stop close to the cafe. It is reported that around 3 km from the cafe, the suspect altered his appearance by discarding his baseball cap and shirt, emerging in a casual T-shirt.

Further CCTV evidence highlights the suspect’s presence on a state bus departing Bengaluru to Tumkur, approximately 60 km away from the city. Cameras on the bus captured visuals of the suspect without his cap, sporting a different attire, suggesting he disembarked en route to Tumkur.

Subsequently, around six hours later, the CCTV trail picks up the suspect again at the Ballari bus stand at 8:58 pm.

The apprehension of the individual in Ballari marks a significant development in the investigation, shedding light on potential accomplices or individuals associated with the blast incident. The NIA’s ongoing efforts aim to unravel the full extent of the case, ensuring justice is served.
